This young woman has decided to start on a diet, and she rejects her grandmother's home made cake. How long do you think she'll last? I think that life without cakes are terrible.
Such a tricky situation. Grandmother's love and the delicious taste of her homemade cake, with the resolution to eat healthier/ lose weight. Compromise is in order: a sliver of cake, a big kiss for Grandma, and an extra half hour of exercise? What a cute illo!
I agree with Nancy. That generation was raised with the philosophy that if you turn food down you are insulting the hostess.... Its quite the question you pose....
Id buckle... but ask to take some home... perhaps? There is always someone at home to appreciate it.. (if it makes it there! )

I agree. And life without ice cream is just as miserable.
